Pieces of Me

Pieces of Me
It is perfectly fine to stand out and go against the grain. I mean, why not love every unique feature you offer?
Its time for you to embrace every curve on your body!
No matter what your body shape may be, the perfect pieces of clothing can accentuate for best assests.
So go ahead start a trend, and show them what your working with!
Here are some tips to enhance your body shape:

Top-Heavy is when your bust measurement is the most dominant part of your body because you have a large and curvaceous bust and small hips and/or bottom by comparison.

Apple-Shaped is when you have no waist, perhaps you feel your tummy is large and round.

Women can showcase great legs and create an attractive silhouette by creating balance between a larger bust and shoulders and thinner legs. Clothing combinations that can work well for this body type include:
  • Short skirts paired with slimming tunic tops
  • V-neck tops worn with boot cut or slightly flared mid-rise jeans
  • Blouses with a slightly nipped waist with flared skirts
  • One button jackets with an above-the waist stance with wide leg trousers
  • A-line solid color dresses
Dark and solid colors for tops work great for apple shapes because they create a more balanced appearance with their slimmer legs.

Curvaceous is when you have an hour glass shape with large breasts and curvy hips and/or bottom.

With a defined waist and feminine curves, many styles of clothing without trouble. To show off a classic hourglass, consider the following clothing choices:
  • Flared jeans with scoop neck tees
  • Three-quarter length slitted skirts with v-neck wrap blouses
  • Nipped waist jackets worn with straight leg trousers
  • Halter style or classic Rockabilly dresses
Pear-Shaped is when your hips and/or bottom are the largest part of your body and your breasts are smaller by comparison.
Clothing for this body shape should balance out heavier legs and hip areas with a slimmer top half. Do this with clothing choices such as:
  • Just-below-the-knee length plain colored skirts with patterned blouses
  • Boot cut jeans paired with boat neck or scoop neck tops
  • A-line skirts with three-quarter sleeve wrap blouses
  • Straight leg trousers with jackets that hit slightly above the hip
  • Wrap dresses in simple prints or solids
Pear body types can usually opt for darker colored bottoms and have fun exploring lots of print and design in terms of tops to create a proportionate appearance and draw eyes upward.

Slender is when your body is slight with small breasts and hips and/or bottom.
Ladies with rectangular or ruler shaped bodies are considered lucky by many because they are often slender in build. The challenge for this body type is typically that women want to appear more curvy and feminine. Clothing options for straight body shapes to create curves include:
  • Pencil skirts paired with belted jackets
  • Blouses with ruching or other dimensional details with flare leg jeans
  • Cap neck or polo shirts worn with modern boot cut trousers or jeans
  • Dresses with a fitted bodice or nipped waist and full skirt
  • Layered ensembles
Rectangle body shapes can also wear items like shift dresses that can be constricting to curvier figures. Contrasting styles, such as bulky sweaters and slim jeans, can also work to break up the vertical lines of a ruler shaped figure.

Submission: Ladies, Don’t Cringe

Before I start, let me just take a moment to give God praises for what HE does. If you woulda told me2 years ago
that today I would be blogging about the advantages of submission, I woulda looked at you like you CRAZY. It’s
taken me a loooong time to accept this calling…matter fact, there are still some things I just can’t toss back and
swallow until a godly person sways me otherwise. (Hint hint)

Let’s discuss this issue of submission: shall we? S-u-b-m-i-s-s-i-o-n…almost synonymous with enslavement or
surrender of rights – at least that’s what I once thought. Now, more mature in the faith and more secure in my
identity I don’t shudder when I hear this word used CORRECTLY.

I began to consider this Submission thing as a potential asset to my Christian portfolio about a year or so ago. I
would like to say that it came over me and I caught it in the midst of a praise break or quiet devotional moment
but that ain’t happen, cap’n. God spoke in the midst of a Hurricane Katrina storm in my life. In hindsight, I know
that had I been more secure in who I was: a woman & a child of God, then I probably wouldn’t have wasted so
much TIME and EMOTION on fighting His sovereignty.

Submission – Webster’s definition:
1: (a). A legal agreement to submit to the decision of arbitrators
(b). An act of submitting something (as for consideration or inspection); also: something submitted (as a
manuscript)
2: The condition of being submissive, humble, or compliant
3: An act of submitting to the authority or control of another

Submission in your FAITH
Mark 14:36 On the eve of his betrayal, Jesus prayed to God for rescue from the suffering he was about to endure. In
the ultimate act of submission to God's will, Jesus here states his acceptance of God's will, whether or not his prayer
is answered the way he personally prefers.

I’ve learned the longer I fight God’s will, the longer I spend in recovery. REAL TALK. I know I’m stubborn and lack
a lot of self-control, but I’m also an analytical person. So that means I notice patterns, of thought, of action, of
speech, etc. So I asked myself, “Self, why are you so stressed out?” Besides the fact that I wear a lot of hats, I had
to understand that I’m fighting the battle that Yolanda Adams told me a long time ago that “isn’t mine to fight.”

So now I search for a promise that God gave His children and STAND ON IT! If it isn’t real to me, how can I expect
God to fulfill it? Matt 6:33-34 “Seek first...” So I began to say LORD, now you said if I seek you above all thing that
you will give me the desires of my heart. I’m seeking you and I pray in the spirit of expectation that you know my
heart’s desires and when they LINE UP with your will for my life, God you will grant it. Take note of a few things:
1). I did not adjust the scripture to justify my desire. 2). I acknowledged that God has the FINAL say, 3). I let God
know that not only do I believe He is able, but I EXPECT Him to deliver in His own timing and 4). I’m admitting that
some of my desires might not line up with God’s will so if I’m noticing a delay, maybe I need to adjust my plan in
exchange for God’s will. I need to SUBMIT my thoughts, life and desires to the LORD and let Him approve ‘em.

Now there are levels of authority, outside of the Lord, that I must submit myself to. Let’s dive in!

Submission to AUTHORITATIVE FIGURES

Family (older siblings, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, basically anyone older than me)

Basic rule of thumb: LOVE covers a MULTITUDE of mess. Although my family stress me out at times either because

of miscommunication, mistakes in judgment or simply because they won’t let me get my way. I have to respect
them – I should WANT to respect them as they are a reflection of me, carry my family’s name and at the end of the
day, THEY ALL I GOT! Love y’all by the way!

Occupational (my veteran co-workers, supervisors (and their bosses), the HR department (policies)

Basic rule of thumb: Since they affect whether or not my paycheck comes, I gotta abide by the rules. *Note: If God
gave me the job, He can take it away* It comes a time when even they must understand that you can’t expect
what you’re not willing to offer. You disrespect me once: I’m gonna bite my tongue…twice: I’m gonna send you a
very professional e-mail that explains where we stand three: I’m gonna ask the Lord for forgiveness: I might just let
my mouth work for the enemy OR whatever happens, after this experience with me, you gon’ know what NOT to
do next time this opportunity presents itself.

Citizenship (Police, IRS, City of KCMO, City Officials, President)

Basic rule of thumb: If I break a law and get caught, I’m going to jail or I’m paying a fine (in some cases both). If
I own some property, they TAXING. If I buy something, THEY TAXING. Whenever I make $, guess what, they DO
TOO! But they sho’ bettah be prepared to PROVE I owe anything and/or I was the one who “shot the deputy” – I
document A LOT and trust, mama didn’t raise NO FOOL!

Submission in MARRIAGE

Ephesians 5:22-23 Husbands and wives are both called to submit to and serve each other, using Christ's relationship
to the church as their model. Because Christ's life was dedicated to serving others, that should be our model for
relating to our spouses.

I really can’t spend a lot of time on this section due to the following:

1. I’m not married.
2. I still struggle with this.
3. There are too many people using submission as an excuse for a man to act a plum fool and for a woman

to stick it out, by any means necessary. So if I discuss how I really feel, y’all might think I’m crazier than ya
did before you read it. As a matter of fact…let me go ahead and break my philosophy down…

TAMZ PHILOSOPHY OF SUBMISSION IN MARRIAGE: I can’t submit to a man if he ain’t submitting to GOD!
I will not become engaged, marry or ‘work it out’ with/to a man that no longer submits to GOD! I will
not remain married to a man who done lost every piece of the good sense God gave him (i.e. verbal &
physical abuse, infidelity, etc.). #ThatIsAll

Can't Wait Another Minute

Can't Wait Another Minute!!

The seasons are changing but that doesn't mean your figure has to change with it.
Take the steps toward a healther lifestyle.
Here are some easy tips for working out at home:
  1. Walking – If the weather is nice, it’s wonderful to get outside and enjoy the scenery around you while you exercise. However, if the weather has other ideas, you can just as easily get an effective walking workout at home. If you have a flight of stairs, go up and down them a few times. (You could even grab a load of laundry as you’re going that way anyway!) This will help to tone up your legs, while getting some low impact aerobic exercise as well. If you don’t have any stairs available, just walk around the house a few times – it may not be very exciting, but it will do the job!
  2. Jumping Jacks – These are always fun, as they bring back memories of being a kid! Who hasn’t done jumping jacks for fun as a child? Well, surprise – they are also great cardio exercises, and good for warming up, too.
  3. Pushups – These are probably not the most favorite exercise of many people, but while they can be hard to do, you can find easier ways to do them. You don’t need to pretend you’re “Rocky”, and do them with one hand; just do what works for you. Do them on your knees, instead of keeping your legs straight. Or, do them standing up against a wall. You will be building up arm strength and working out muscles in your chest area.
  4. Leg Lifts – These are great for building up strength and muscles in your legs. If you find it hard to do the exercises with your legs straight, try bending them slightly.
  5. Crunches – The best exercise for building up and strengthening abdominal muscles. When you’re just getting started, don’t worry about getting your head all the way up. So long as you’re going up until you feel the stretching of the muscles, you will see some benefit.
  6. Jogging In Place – Jogging is a great exercise for your heart. You can jog in place at home while watching TV or listening to music. The only equipment you will require is a good pair of shoes, to eliminate any stress to your legs.
  7. Squats – These are wonderful exercises for your legs and buttocks. You can even just try these by sitting and standing up again from a regular chair, if you’re finding them to be too difficult. As long as you’re able to do a few repetitions, you will be providing some benefit to your body.
  8. Light Weight Lifting – No, you don’t need to go out and buy expensive weights for this! Just use whatever you can find in your house. Start out with something lighter, such as a can of peas, and work yourself up to heavier items. You can use milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles or even water jugs.
  9. Dancing – Dancing is a wonderful exercise, which is great for your heart. Not only that, but it can lift your spirits as well, and give your overall feeling a boost.
  10. Step Exercises – Using the steps in your home, you can do repetitions which will tone your leg muscles. (Just remember to be careful!)

You Deserve to Have Your Dreams Come True

Many of us have do not understand what personal power means. We have been given the false notion that power is bad and that it is something we use to exert our will upon others. In fact, when our personal power is intact, we are neither overbearing nor meek. We have a clear sense of our strength and the impact we can have on others. This actually enables us to be more sensitive. Personal power is what permits us to work on behalf of our dreams and desires. It allows us to realize that we are worthy and deserve to be heard. In addition, our personal power lets us extend the respect we know that we deserve to the people around us. There is no reason to be afraid or ashamed of fully owning your power.

Another way to nurture your personal power is to honor your dreams and desires by making concrete plans to manifest them in the world. Start by making a list of things you want, and let yourself think big. Choose one goal from the list and commit to bringing it to fruition. In addition, break the goal into tasks that you can work on each day. Know that you deserve to have your dreams come true and that you have the power to bring them into being.

You Can Be Whatever You Want To Be!

by: Donna Levine

There is inside you
All of the potential
To be whatever you want to be;
All of the energy
To do whatever you want to do.
Imagine yourself as you would like to be,
Doing what you want to do,
And each day, take one step
Towards your dream.
And though at times it may seem too
difficult to continue,
Hold on to your dream.
One morning you will awake to find
That you are the person you dreamed of,
Doing what you wanted to do,
Simply because you had the courage
To believe in your potential
And to hold on to your dream.
